Walking With God

To walk away from a life I've known
The crafts and skills I call my own
Thoughts of missions make a spirit groan
Return for a harvest the seed was sown
This quest for God is it mine alone?

But in the Word they were sent in pairs
Going to the world to share its cares
And so to God if this witness bears
The need for one who this call shares
To walk among the poor if one so dares

If this obsession has become a desire
And so placed in a heart by holy fire
If to walk alone is whats to transpire
And a need for a companion not so dire
I pray that in this work I never tire

So granted this walk is to be my path
Sanctify me keeping me free from wrath
I've counted the cost and done the math
Ignoring ones who doubt those who laugh
and knowing in God's glory is my bath

So this is my prayer; this is my plea
And printed out boldly for all to see
Without concern for those who disagree
And its not about you and not about me
I serve the Master who hung on a tree

  1. This life of love a paradox complete
We lay our all at Jesus feet.
No matter where on earth we roam
It's in His heart we find our home.
